Kangna loves her scars, refuses surgery

Actor Kangna Ranaut doesn't fear blemishes or scars. The pretty actor was shooting in Kanpur sometime back, when she met with an accident on the sets, after falling off a bike while shooting for a sequence in her upcoming fim.

Kangna, who was a bit hesitant at first, gave in to the charm of riding the Bullet. However, riding this colossal bike in the narrow lanes of Kanpur was perhaps not as easy as she thought it would be. The actor, while shooting, fell off the bike and got deep cuts on her left foot. Owing to this, the shoot was called off for a couple of weeks.

Apparently, the director and producer of the film volunteered to sponsor a plastic surgery to get rid of the scars, but Kangna turned down the offer. "I love scars and I will preserve them," said the tough actor. What most people do not know is that she also has some scars on her lips and nose. And surprisingly, she has never thought of getting them corrected.

"Each scar on my body is a memory. Getting rid of them means wiping off those memories forever. That disturbs me and I'm not keen to erase any memory from my life," says the pretty actor.

'I never held grudges against anybody': Actor Katrina Kaif speaks on her relief at being given the clean chit post the income tax raids

"Yes, I am relieved," says actor Katrina Kaif, as she slumps down on the couch for a chat in her hotel suite after a hectic day in the capital. Referring to the income tax raids, she says, "I have been given a clean chit (by the IT department) and I am really happy about it. I have never held any grudges against anybody. I know that they (income tax officers) were just doing their jobs," says Katrina, playing with her hair.

After maintaining a stoic silence about it, Katrina finally reveals that her younger sister Isabelle is planning to make her Hi-Fi (Hindi Film Industry) debut soon. Ask her if she's ready to help little sister land a film with herself and she shoots back, "With me? I hope not. On her own… Yes, she is considering something. I don't want her to be pushed into anything but I feel that the time has come for her to be a little serious in life," says the concerned elder sister, admitting that Isabelle can act like a spoilt brat at times. "She (Isabelle) is completely spoilt. That's why I tell her to do the usual rounds (seeking opportunities from filmmakers as a newcomer, without her help) anyway," adds Katrina.

Though Katrina is not active on any of the social networking sites, she doesn't rule out joining the Twitter bandwagon. "I never say 'never'. I am very active on the Internet, but I am not on social networking sites. I know that I'm one of the most searched names on Google (last year she topped Google's top-searched people's list)," says the actor, set to judge an online dance competition for Etihad Airways on Facebook soon.

Always open to experimenting with career options, Katrina reveals she could even take up directing an ad film someday. "I don't think I am ready to make a feature film yet but an ad film? Definitely! There are so many things that I want to do and so many visuals that I would want to create. And making an ad film seems to be an ideal proposition," she smiles.

She greets you with a polite Namaste as she settles down for her interview. Nicole Flint, all of 22, crowned Miss South Africa for the year 2009 -2010, is currently touring India. The pretty lass, who has been exposed to various cultures, thanks to her stint at various beauty pageants is extremely excited to be in India. "I love India and everything about the place. It's so beautiful to see so many colours around. The people here are so warm and hospitable. I already dread going back."

Ask her what she best likes about India and she is quick to add that it's a toss up between the country's spicy food and films. Nicole is a self-confessed foodie and admits that she has been gorging on the spicy Indian cuisine ever since she landed here. "I have had some of the most amazing kebabs and chicken here," she says smacking her lips.

As a global ambassador, Nicole thinks it is important to stand up for issues that need support. The causes closest to her heart include education and rehabilitating the homeless. "I am a very family oriented person. Also, I feel education is really important. I am what I am, because of my education."

Nicole, admittedly, swears by Hindi films. She squeals, "I am a huge fan of Shah Rukh Khan and I have seen Devdas and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. He is incredibly huge in South Africa. I am hoping to meet him," she says, adding, "I just switch off the television if Shah Rukh Khan is dying in a film. It is too much of a heartbreak for me." Films aside, she absolutely enjoys watching cricketer Sachin Tendulkar score.

The model is hoping to come back to India and, if given a choice, get married here. "Oh, I'd love to get married in India. My father would be the happiest if I got married to an Indian guy." Ask her if she has a special someone in her life? "Well, I have a guy, but he didn't come with me to India. If I had my way, I would get married to Shah Rukh," she winks.

Mugdha gets judgemental

Model-turned-actor Mugdha Godse has added a new feather to her cap. The leggy lass who made her debut with Fashion, has now turned judge on a reality show for Zee Marathi. Mugdha, however, is quick to clarify that this move should not be construed as her looking for more work on television. "I know they say never to say never. But I'm really not interested in TV. I took up this show because I looked at it as an opportunity to encourage talent in Maharashtra to come to the fore," says Mugdha.

The actor is judging the show along with well known theatre and personality Makrand Deshpande. Talking about her experience as a judge she says that she was pleasantly surprised to see so much talent in the state. "The experience has been fantastic! I feel privileged to help pick real talent and see it unfold on such a big platform. A few episodes have already been aired and I truly feel that I've reached everyone's houses through this show," says an ecstatic Mugdha.
Ask the actor if she will consider participating in a reality show, since there are many actors out there who are taking part in a variety of dance-based shows these days and she says a flat "No."

She explains, "I took up the role of a judge on this show only because of my love for Marathi. But participating in a reality show is a different ball game. I'd rather stick to acting. Also, I've really struggled to reach where I have today. I've faced my share of anxiety pangs and I'm not prepared to go through that feeling again by standing in front of a panel of judges waiting for them to rate my performance."

Ask her what is happening on the film front and Mugdha says that she has a few offers in her kitty, but insists that she will speak about them only when the time is right.

Film-maker Madhur Bhandarkar says that he wants to explore all genres of films now

Film-maker Madhur Bhandarkar's gamble — of switching genres from hard-hitting films to comedy — has paid off. His latest film, the Ajay Devgn-Emraan Hashmi starrer got a fairly decent response at the box office. However, the multiple National Award winning director feels that, be it comedy or serious, his films can be slotted in one genre — that of realistic cinema. "Serious issues or not, my films depict reality. That's what I have done in this film too. There were real situations and it tracks real people," he says. And though the director admits that he enjoys watching film-maker David Dhawan's style of slapstick comedies, he is quick to add that he personally can't relate to making them. "I have nothing against such films, but as a film-maker, I don't see myself directing one ," he says.

His inspiration, he says, has always been late film-maker Hrishikesh Mukherjee. "I don't think anyone can make the kind of comedies he did. But we can definitely try."

Still basking in the praise coming his way, the director reveals that he hasn't started work on his next film yet. "I am happy with the kind of response the film's generating, though I wish the censor board had not given me such a hard time," he smiles.
But wasn't he apprehensive about taking such a huge risk with his image as a serious filmmaker? "No, ya. I am a film-maker and I enjoy making films. The image is not created by me and as long as I am making good films, who cares what people call me?" he says.

Though there's speculation of him making sequels to his hit films right from Chandni Bar to Corporate and Fashion, Madhur reveals that nothing's finalised yet. "Right now I'm not sure what my next will be," he says, adding, "In fact, I might just make a kiddie film next. Why not?" he ends.

Music Launch of Classic Film 'HUM DONO'

India's flagship music company and film production house,Saregama India Ltd, is all set to go back in time and re-launch the music of the classic film Hum Dono.
The movie was a box office hit in Hi-Fi (Hindi Film Industry), produced and acted in by the legendary Dev Anand Saab co-starring Nanda and Sadhana.. The movie is now digitally being made in color and will soon be releasing across all theaters nationally.

The music from the movie was famous and a great hit during its time, after all it had melodious songs by legendary artistes, Lata Mangeshkar and Rafi Saab and then the ever hummable "Main Zindagi ka Saath Nibhata Chala Gaya" by Mohammed Rafi and the evergreen song sung by Lataji - "Allah tero naam". It also had the timeless duet by Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi called "Abhi Na Jao Chhodkar".

All the above hits can now be heard on stereo a format. The most unique and exciting feature of this album is that after each song, Nandaji and Dev saab have give their commentary, sharing their experience and anecdotes on how it was while shooting for the particular song, their rapport with each other and their own personal opinion on the music and the film.

Says the Music head of Saregama, Adarsh Gupta, “Hum Dono Rangeen is an interesting way for us to market this iconic soundtrack to a whole new generation of listeners. The evergreen DNA of Dev Sahab comes through in the new stereo sound of this film’s music, giving it a whole new lease of life. The music marketing is focused on the eternally popular “lighter” tune being pushed as ringtone”
With Saregama re-launching the music of the film, seems to have ensured that it won't just be the movies visual experience, that will be coming to color, but even the audio and music of the movie will be keeping up with the times, though it can be said that the music of the movie already is timeless.

Salman’s ready to battle with the IT!

Talking about raids, our very own Sallu did a dual role – on one hand he spoke up to defend a distressed Katrina, on the other, he played it safe for himself. He was so infuriated with the ongoing raid at Katrina’s house, that on his social networking page he said he would demand information under the RTI (Right to Information) Act! The next morning, the world woke up to an elaborate account of his earnings and profits from his NGO, on the same online space. Sallu had explained how 76 per cent of the earning from his NGO goes to charity and the remaining is spent on manufacturing. We don’t know why the Dabangg Khan felt the need to explain so much, but we can tell that he’s really trying to ‘be smart’. And what we’re really wondering is, who would have opened the door for the IT officials, had they visited Salman’s place! Hmmmm… Keep thinking, guys.

Big B is ‘blind’ in friendship?

That Ram Gopal Varma and Amitabh Bachchan are close pals is a known fact, but Big B seems to be taking this friendship a bit too seriously, or let’s say, too blindly. Recently, he went on to admit that he had signed Ramu’s next film Buddha without even reading the script of the film! He’s walking blindly into the film, which requires him to color his hair red and don a youthful, cool look! After the last film they did together, we think it’s a scary thought, think about it, Big B. Apparently, in this film AB will be seen in his old avtar, as the angry ‘young’ man after years. So Ramu, better get your act together this time, if even a bit of AB’s screen image rubs off on real life, God help you!

"I’m exclusive", says actress Tabu, who received the Padma Shri recently

Tabu is on cloud nine. Shooting for Ang Lee’s film in Pondicherry, the year began with some fabulous unexpected news for her. She’s won the fourth highest civilian title - the Padma Shri. “And the feeling is still sinking in,” she confesses. “There’s a certain ring to it isn’t it? Padma Shri Tabassum Hashmi (yes, that’s her full name),” she says with a broad smile. “Coming from a middleclass family in Hyderabad, I was an introvert. I chose to be the way I am.

Today, when I look back at my long and meandering journey in tinsel town, it seems worth every moment of hard work. With no backing of a Godfather or any other man, this award celebrates my achievement as a single woman,” she added. The moment is also pregnant with hopes of newer initiatives apart from films in the near future. “I am taking small gaps in between my films to experience the other aspects of life. I will consider pursuing them, if it pays good money to me. Well, why not? I am not closed to any new ideas. But films are my first love,” she announces.

Known as a private person, Tabu still prefers to remain in the midst of a chosen few. “I am not reclusive, I’m exclusive. With such a big population around us, does everyone open up to everyone else. In that scenario, I am in a majority,” she laughs. Summing up all that has gone by in her life, she feels no one can predict the future but one must be objective enough in the present. “I’ve crossed many a cultural and gender barriers as a woman. I’ve always gone with the flow. Today, I stand tall and feel proud of my decisions. Tomorrow’s another day. Masha Allah!” she ends.

Turbanator turns teacher: After creating ripples as a Sikh, Sunny makes a new style statement

The turban is gone! Sunny Deol is back in a new avatar for Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi's Mohalla 80 that should hit theatres across the world in August 2011.
The actor who won accolades for Yamla Pagla Deewana is playing a Sanskrit teacher in his new film; that explains the dhoti, the tikka and the moustache.

He smiles through the dark mouche and says, “Learning Sanskrit is my priority now. Yes, I’m very comfortable with the dhoti. I wore it a decade ago in a film called Arjun Pandit (1999) but the moustache was missing then.” Sunny is kicked about working with the very respected Dr Dwivedi who made headlines with the television series Chanakya and his sensitive film Pinjar, that dealt with the Indo-Pak divide.

Says the actor, “My father Dharmendra’s Satyakam (1969) is one of my favourite films. My desire is to do something as sensitive and appreciated as Satyakam. Mohalla 80 should be that film. It is based on a prize winning book. It is also a very emotional film about a teacher who fights hard to retain the principles he believes in.”

Singer Hard Kaur is making her Hi-Fi (Hindi Film Industry) debut in an upcoming Akshay Kumar starrer

Singer-turned-actor Hard Kaur, known for her blunt, in-your-face attitude will soon be seen playing a character which is a far cry from her in real life image — a salwar-kameez clad Punjabi girl.

Though it is nothing like what she is in reality, the rapper says she could relate to her character because of her own Punjabi and the UK connection. Hard Kaur plays a traditional Punjabi kudi who lives with a very rigid set of family members in London.

"I spent my childhood in the UK with my mother who brought us up single-handedly. During the filming, I went back to the times when I was staying with my grandparents and they too were pretty strict. In the film, I aspire to become a successful rapper — pretty much the story of my life too. I wanted to make a name for myself in the world of rapping when everyone frowned upon a career oriented girl and here I am today," she smiles exuding a sense of triumph.

Talking about the hardships she faced to become a singer, Hard Kaur says that she attributes her success to her never-say-die attitude. But she is also clear about her goals. Though she is making her debut now, she does not harbour any ambitions of becoming a top heroine or making it big in Hi-Fi (Hindi Film Industry). "I love my food and I can never be slim like today's heroines. They work really hard on their bodies but I believe in being healthy. I know what I am here for and I am not starry-eyed."

Ask her if she got along with actor Anushka Sharma in the film and she almost immediately quips, "She is a very sweet girl. There were absolutely no issues from my side. We were like one big happy family. I am only interested in doing my job," she says, as she trails off.

Preity goes under water

Actor Preity Zinta had an underwater birthday party of sorts at the Maldives this year. The actor, who turned a year older on Monday, posted pictures of her snorkelling. She also mentioned on a micro-blogging site that she is spending her birthday in the Maldives and that she is having an "underwater birthday".

"A sneak peak at the way I spent my birthday in Maldives. (smiley) (it is the) Best time ever! Ting!" Preity tweeted. 'Ting' is the expression Preity uses to depict her flashing her dimples and a wide smile.

A source says, "Preity had decided to go snorkeling on her birthday. She went there with a couple of her friends. Initially, Preity didn't want to have a lavish bash on her birthday and wanted to keep the celebrations simple at her Bandra home." But the actor apparently changed her mind and decided to get a dose of some adventure rather than sit at home.

"She had some work there too so it was like coupling work with pleasure for her. Preity is very fond of adventure sports. She has already tried parasailing, sky-diving and diving. She is a bit of an adventure freak and likes the adrenaline rush. So, diving (she apparently tried a bit of deep sea diving after the snorkeling) seemed to be the best idea," the source adds. Preity posted one picture of her diving in the Maldives and also said that she is feeling "on top of the world" even though she is actually underwater. "Underwater party…!" Preity said before wishing everybody else who shared a birthday with her.
"Good night guys! Gotta wake up for another dive tomorrow (smiley) sweet dreams! Lotsa love... Muaah!" the actor tweeted before hitting the sack.

Why make an issue of it? ...asks actor Shahid Kapoor about his presence in Priyanka's house during the IT raids

Actor Shahid Kapoor's presence at actor Priyanka Chopra's residence at the time of the recently conducted IT raids have only added fuel to the speculations surrounding their relationship status. Reports claim that the actor had rushed to PC's home as soon as the IT officers walked in.

However, in an exclusive chat with After Hrs, the actor insists that he would have done that for any friend. "We stay a few floors away, so I was over in a few minutes. Besides, I don't see why such an issue is being made out of this. I only did what any friend would have done," he said. Probe further about their relationship status and Shahid maintains a stoic silence. "Let's not get into that, please," he says, adding, "People will anyways write, think and make it out according to what they feel, but I don't want to talk about it. I wish people would respect our need for privacy in this matter."

Interestingly, the actor had called off all other commitments for the day to be by the side of his 'good friend'. "Like I've said, I would have done this for any other friend too!"

Shahid does admit though, that being in constant media and public glare takes a toll on personal relationships. "But I guess, it's a part and parcel of our jobs and we'll just have to take it in our stride," he ends.

"Shahid was at my apartment", finally admits actor Priyanka Chopra, following the IT raids at her Yari Road residence in Versova

Priyanka Chopra has hitherto maintained a studied silence when it comes to her reported relationship with actor Shahid Kapoor. In most interviews, she has reiterated that she doesn't like to talk about her personal life (read Shahid). But, on Monday evening at the music launch of her forthcoming movie, the actor finally decided to break her silence on the ceaselessly speculated issue.

"Yes, Shahid was there at my apartment when it (the income tax raids) happened. He lives just three minutes away from my home and it was but natural for me to give him a call when all that was happening. My mother was also supposed to be there but she couldn't make it. So I gave him a call and he rushed to my apartment just as he was (reportedly in shorts)," says Priyanka, talking for the first time about the "traumatic" IT raids at her Yari Road residence in Versova.

The actor doesn't even bat an eyelid when asked if any black money was recovered from her apartment. "I initially thought that I would not speak about it at all. But then I issued a statement through my spokesperson and my chartered accountants. Do you want to know if I had kept Rs 6 crore hidden under the mattress of my bed? No, that's not true at all. I have never seen such kind of money. I didn't keep that kind of money at my apartment. I have told everybody (through her earlier official statement) and have even given a complete breakdown (of the money) that was there. I don't think I would need to reiterate that again. I am cooperating with the investigations like a good citizen of the country," she asserts.

Priyanka, who had earlier been listed as one of the highest tax-payers, admits that the journey from being the highest tax-payer to being investigated for tax evasion has left her shocked. "I have never faced such a thing in my whole career, but I am told that it has happened to everybody who's famous. I guess I have become famous now. That's not what has upset me. I am deeply hurt and shocked to see how unsubstantiated reports kept on appearing about the raids and they continued to appear even when I went ahead and issued a clarification," rues Priyanka.

Aditi Rao Hydari: This is my introduction to Hi-Fi (Hindi Film Industry)

Aditi, who was last seen in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Delhi 6, will be seen in a bold, bubbly avatar in Sudhir Mishra’s Yeh Saali Zindagi in which she plays the role of Shanti. Interestingly, the actor wants to call this movie as her introduction to tinseltown. “This is the space I wanted to be in and this is my introduction to Hi-Fi (Hindi Film Industry). Delhi 6 was a film that I enjoyed doing but wasn’t a film that I would have normally liked to start my career with because our industry stereotypes actors very fast and the avatar you carry on screen gets associated with you,” says Aditi, adding Sudhir’s movie happened to her by chance. “I really wanted to do the film but I was not in town when they were auditioning. So, when I came back I heard that the auditions were over. I was heart-broken but I prayed very hard and somehow I got a call to audition for the part and I got it.”

Saif to debut on TV this year?: The Chhote Nawab has been flooded with offers to host a show on the small screen

Saif Ali Khan is being chased by a slew of television channels asking him to host a show. “It could either be a quiz show or a reality show,” says an insider. “Currently, ideas are being tossed around.”

BT has learnt from highly placed informers that a couple of channels are seducing him with big money and Saif ’s debut may happen by the end of 2011. The Chhote Nawab is neck-deep with work and promotions through the year with Aarakshan, Homi Adajania's next, Agent Vinod and Race 2 happening for him but sources tell us that he is very keen to work on TV.

“Saif has got at least four offers to host shows on the small screen. The money is huge but Saif has canned some of the offers because he hasn’t found the concepts too exciting. However, the channels (we hear three General Entertainment Channels) are gunning to land him by year-end with exciting offers.”

The source adds, “Saif is not getting charmed by the existing shows on TV. He wants a concept that is fresh and that suits his personality. He doesn’t want to fill anyone's shoes and so the channels are toying with new ideas for him. They will have some to present before him after Aarakshan’s shooting ends."

When contacted, Saif confirms the news that he has been approached, saying, “It is true that I have got a couple of offers. I’m defnitely willing to debut on small screen with a very interesting and exciting show. Quiz shows get me going so maybe something like that would really interest me. But again Kaun Banega Crorepati has set the benchmark. So, let’s see. But I’m hoping to get a good concept soon.”

Hollywood diva Jennifer Lopez and her lesser-known cousin sister, Caterina Lopez have oodles of Latino charm. Caterina is in Mumbai to flaunt her sexy curves in an item number for a film titled Bhindi Bazaar Inc. “When they approached me for this sexy item number, I jumped up at it. And this gave me the perfect chance to come and work in Mumbai, which is the New York of India. I’d love to do a full-fledged role in a Hi-Fi film soon,” says the sexy girl.
